A-1D Skyraider

The Skyraider is a single seat attack aircraft in use from the 1940s through to the 1980s. It is a large, piston powered aircraft that often operated from aircraft carriers and was successfully used by the US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Air Force, Royal Navy and other operators.

Over 3,000 were built with and the example at Scampton Airhsow, G-RADR, owned and operated by Kennet Aviation, was in use with the French Air Force from 1960. The aircraft then operated with the Gabon Air Force in Africa, before being retired in 1985. It spent 10 years with The Fighter Collection at Duxford from 1993, before Kennet Aviation took possession.
