Airshow FM Goes Live!
Published: 31 Aug 2017
The Scampton Airshow now has its own radio station - broadcasting from RAF Scampton, across Lincolnshire.
Starting bright and early at 7am on 1st September the station can be heard on 87.9FM around the airbase and further afield across the wider Lincolnshire area on DAB, Digital Radio. Just search for Airshow on your DAB radio on the Lincolnshire multiplex.
Run by Lincs FM, Airshow FM will be bringing listeners all of the build up to next weekend's Airshow, with special interviews, extended programming, important travel information and - during the weekend itself - full commentary of the flying display from our Airshow commentators George Bacon and Ben Dunnell. The programmes will also feature some of the many volunteers who'll be working hard to make sure the event is a success. Listeners can also get involved by tweeting the team @airshowfm and don't forget to use #Scampton17.
The station itself is based inside the historic hangar 2, part of the RAF Scampton Heritage Centre, next to Guy Gibson's office. Airshow FM Manager Sean Dunderdale said: "We are honoured to be a part of the inaugural Scampton Airshow and hope to give our listeners a real flavour of what they can expect at the event. For our studio to be in a building of such historical significance is truly amazing. It offers the best views of the airfield and with commentary from George and Ben live from the flight-line during the weekend, it means listeners will really be in among the action during the Airshow weekend."
